The body of one of the two fisherman lost in the Ada canoe accident on Thursday was buried over the weekend at Ningo in the Greater Accra Region.
The deceased whose decomposed body was found at Wuti Agbedorme in the Volta Region had to be buried immediately by the family, thus bringing the death toll to two
The Public Relations Officer for the Ada East District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Ebenezer Godbless Dan-Doe disclosed this in an interview with the Ghanaian Times on Sunday.
He said the three day search by the Ghana Navy, NADMO and the Community Rescue Teams had been officially brought to an end.
Mr Dan-Doe, however said because the deceased were found in another region, they were believed to have been carried away by waves and so all fishing communities had been encouraged to be on the lookout for dead bodies.
He said even information on any person found alive and believed to be part of those who went fishing was welcomed to assist in the matter.
The search was as a result of a disaster that stuck two boats namely Shalom and Barcelona on Thursday in Ada, when 19 fishermen went on a fishing expedition.
The Public Relations Officer said so far 15 of them are safe and healthy and had returned to their families while two were still missing at the time of filling the report.
He advised all fishermen and passengers in the area and even beyond to cultivate the habit of wearing life jackets when travelling on water bodies regardless how experienced they were or good at swimming because if they were appropriately dressed, they could be saved in the event of a disaster.
