The 28th edition of the annual Dagaaba and Frafra friendly games, signifying the promotion of peace between the two ethnic groups in Ghana, has been slated for Saturday, September 6 at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, Accra.
This year’s edition would be under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity: The Dagaaba-Frafra model for Peaceful Co-existence,’ has its foundation in a relationship which has hitherto been informal and taken for granted, but which have been nurtured and developed to become a national calendar event in Accra.
According to the organisers, this year’s games will feature soccer (men & women), Tug- of-Peace (men & women), sack race and lime and spoon race.
The side attraction for this year’s games will be the men and women senior citizens’ penalty kicks.
There will also be cultural displays by groups from both the Upper East (Frafra) and the Upper West (Dagaaba) regions with participation from members from both tribes.
In attendance will be Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, senior government officials, ethnic chiefs and opinion leaders, high ranking officers of the civil, public and security services as well as several other people from all walks of life.
There will be various traditional foods and drinks on sale to participants and spectators.
