THREE suspected members of an outlawed motorcycle gang accused of terrorising residents within the Breman-Kronum-Suame enclave in the Ashanti Region have been arrested by the police.

The gang allegedly engaged in illegal midnight motorcycle racing, took over public roads, and attacked and robbed unsuspecting passersby, creating fear and insecurity among residents.

A statement signed by the Head of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, said the arrests were made at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, when a police team intercepted the group at Suame in Kumasi.

The suspects were identified as Sharif Mahmud, 23, Abdallah Karim, 25, and James Alena, 25, while several other members managed to escape during the operation.

According to the statement, police surveillance of the group had been ongoing as part of sustained efforts to apprehend its members, who had consistently evaded arrest.

It added that police inquiry bail had been granted to the three suspects, who were expected to be arraigned before the court when it resumed sitting following the ongoing strike by the Judicial Service Association of Ghana (JUSAG).

The statement further indicated that investigations were continuing, with efforts underway to track down and arrest the remaining members of the group.

Residents were urged to volunteer credible information to assist the police in identifying and apprehending the fleeing suspects, while the command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order.
