Ghana’s U17 national team, the Black Starlets, will commence full-scale residential camping today as preparations intensify for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A total of 44 players have been invited by Head Coach, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum to begin preparations for the continental showpiece.
The invited players comprise members of the squad that featured at the 2025 WAFU B U17 Championship, where Ghana secured qualification to the AFCON, as well as selected players from a two-month nationwide screening exercise conducted by the technical team.
All players selected from the screening process have successfully passed the mandatory MRI tests, clearing them for inclusion in the next phase of preparations, a statement from the FA stated.
According to the statement, the invited players are expected to report to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence today at 4pm, to officially begin residential camping under the supervision of the technical and medical teams.
Coach Dr Ogum will name his final squad for the 2026 U17 AFCON from the group of 44 players during the camping period, following intensive training sessions, tactical assessments, and evaluation matches.
