At least five persons are reported dead in a tragic road crash that occurred at Ataabadze Junction, near Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality of the Central Region, last Sunday.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at 6.49 am alerting them about the incident, prompting the dispatch of a rescue team from the Central Regional Headquarters of the GNFS to the scene.
It involved a Sprinter bus, a Man Diesel articulated truck and a tipper truck.
DOIII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, told the Ghana News Agency that the Sprinter bus was enroute to the Western Region from Cape Coast, while the two other trucks were traveling in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

DOIII said one survivor was found and two bodies were also at the scene.
He said although some casualties had already been transported to the hospital prior to the rescue team’s arrival, the exact number of deaths remained unconfirmed.
