8 year-old boy accidentally shoots 12-year-old brother

A tragic incident unfolded in Twifo-Ahyire in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region, when an eight-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his12-year-old brother, identified as Mawuko.

The father of the victim, Samuel Hegbige, also known as “Sakora,” a farmer and hunter, had allegedly left his firearm unattended in the room upon his return from the bush.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the young child went for the weapon and playfully pointed it at his brother who was having a meal, and pulled the trigger, instantly killing him.

Law enforcement officers promptly responded to a call to the tragic scene where Superintendent Charles Addai Boateng, the District Police Commander of Twifo Praso, caused the arrest of Hegbige as part of the investigative process.

The eight-year-old boy was initially subjected to interrogation by the authorities but was subsequently released and entrusted back to the care of his family.

Investigations are ongoing.
