Ablekuma South Oldies proved too strong for Awoshie Oldies, defeating them 6-3 in a ninth week clash of the Retired National Footballers Association of Ghana (RENFAG) Oldies League played at the Auntie Aku Astro Turf Park in Sowutuom last Saturday.
The Zone D game saw Heinrich Abban open the scoring in the second minute, with Bala Mohammed increasing the tally in the 14th minute, but Sadiq Commey Bentum reduced the deficit for the host four minutes later.
Abban restored the two-goal lead in the 29th minute before Bentum got his second goal of the game to reduce the lead again in the 33rd minute. Alhassan Seidu added the fourth goal three minutes to the break.
Back from recess, Leslie Odoi and Seth Amarboye Quaye increased the tally in the 63rd and 81st minutes before Wisdom Abbey grabbed his side’s third goal in the 89th minute.
At the Madina Estate Park, Madina Oldies defeated second-placed Kotobabi Oldies 2-0 in the Zone C game, with goals from John Kofi Owusu in the 31st minute and Godfred Aduobe in the 75th minute.
Nima Oldies opened a three-point gap at the summit of the Zone C log with a 3-2 victory over Achimota Oldies at the Nima Kaokudi Park, while Adenta Oldies moved to third spot with a 3-1 victory over Okaikwei Oldies at the Adenta Community Park.
The game involving Ayawaso K.F.C and Abokobi Oldies at the Alajo Park was postponed.
SCC Oldies moved within three points of leaders Asiedu Keteke Oldies in Zone D with a 2-0 win over Ablekuma Central Oldies at the Arthur Moses Park in Weija. Accra Old Stars beat Nii Sarbah Oldies 3-1 at the Indafa Park, while the game between Asiedu Keteke Oldies and Nima First Oldies at the Mantse Agbona Park was postponed.
In Zone B, Ashaiman Oldies beat Nungua Oldies 5-2 at the Ashaiman Roman Park. East Legon Oldies lost 2-1 to Nii Laryea Oldies at the Bawaleshie School Park. The Veterans K.F.C versus Tema Ex Footballers at the Twedaase Park and Teshie Old Stars versus Community 2 Oldies at the Teshie Mcdan Park were postponed.
In Zone B La Salem Old Stars defeated Dansoman Tony Stars 3-1 at the Mc Dan La Town Park; La Emmause won 1-0 over La Old Stars at the La Salem Park; Scarp Rangers Oldies lost 1-2 to Rangoon Oldies at the ATTC Park in Kokomlemle, while games involving Tenashie Oldies and Accra East Old Stars at the Osu Ako-Adjei Park, and Adabraka/Asylum Down Oldies versus Osu Salem Oldies at the Adabraka Methodist Park, were postponed.
