The Bono Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Kofi Amo-Kodie has expressed his delight at the availability of a secondary diagnostic facility in the region which hitherto could only be accessed elsewhere in Kumasi and Accra of the country.

According to him, healthcare services such as DNA test, ultrasound, X-ray, CT Scan and mammography, among others now available in the Bono region have not only come to save cost and improve the health needs of the people but also engendered competition within health ecosystem of the region

He noted that the COVID-19 era exposed the fragile nature of the health system of the region in times of emergencies and that they had to rely on other regions to run COVID-19 test.

DrAmo-Kodie was speaking at the inauguration of the Samuel Yaw Owusu (SYO) Advanced Medical Diagnostic Centre at Sunyani in the Bono Region yesterday.

He commended the management of new facility to make their services affordable to people in order for low income earners to access the centre.

DrAmo-Kodie said the region did not have MRI service and appealed to the centre to provide one to service the people.

The Bono Regional Health Director also urged the management of the facility to take their plan preventive maintenance of the equipment seriously so as to ensure its longevity.

The Chief Executive Officer of SYO Advanced Medical Diagnostic Centre,Dr Samuel Yaw Owusu said the centre was established primarily to give back to society to improve the health needs of Ghanaians especially the less privilege in society.

He announced that every public holiday in the country, the centre wouldorganise a free health screening exercise as part of its corporate social responsibility towards the people.

Dr Owusu also assured quality service with more additional facility to make the centre the sort after in the region.
