Founder and Leader of the United Party (UP), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has proposed a one-year temporary ban on all small-scale mining as part of measures to tackle illegal mining and restore the country’s degraded environment.
He said the proposed ban should cover both licensed and unlicensed small-scale mining operations and provide an opportunity for the government and other stakeholders to undertake a comprehensive clean-up of mining-affected areas and establish a new framework for responsible mining. Read More
