After 10 days of exceptional talent display, the Elite U-15 Girls Championship came to an eventful end with Ashanti Region emerging the ultimate victor in the thrilling football tournament.
The finals, which took place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, drew massive support from the football industry and the other participating teams.
Two goals from Keziah Akua Asantewaa and Franklina Onyinah ensured the Ashanti Region remain the only unbeaten side in the tournament, surpassing all odds to clinch the ultimate title.
The Ashanti Elite U-15 girls team’s Ruth Ayayee was certified as the overall best player of the competition for her exceptional performance and sheer show of dexterity on the field of play.
With four goals to her credit, Azimpaga Mohammed from the Upper West Elite U-15 girls’ team got the Goal Queen award.
Individual certificates went to Ashanti Elite U-15 girls team’s Abdulai Warama Borsu as best goalkeeper, Western Elite U-15 girls’ team’s Rachael Kuruwaa as most promising player.
Eastern Elite U-15 girls’ team were also certified as the Fair Play team of the tournament for maintaining discipline on and off the pitch.
For putting up the best of behaviour during the tournament, maintaining sanity and also keeping their camping resident clean, Director of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre, Winnifred Mawudeku, also rewarded the Eastern and Greater Accra Elite U15 Girls team with a special reward.
The Elite U-15 Girls Championship forms part of the implementation phase of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS) by the GFA, aimed at talent identification and development of the next generation of top football stars. –Ghanafa.org
