The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Assembly is to invest more in development projects to better the livelihood of the people since most of the projects are being funded from the Assembly’s major source of funds.
It includes the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and the District Development Fund (DDF).
The Assembly has submitted priority projects and work plan for the utilisation of 2014 DDF allocation which was in arrears, proposing to use such funds to complete all outstanding projects and procure furniture for the District Education Service Directorate to be distributed to schools.
At the end of the first quarter of this year, the Assembly generated GH₵71,713.29 representing 19.9 per cent of targeted amount for the year ending December 31, 2019.
Isaac Odoom, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who announced this at the second ordinary meeting of the assembly at Breman-Asikuma, charged the assembly and residents to take interest in projects being executed in their areas and own them as well.
He gave the assurance that the assembly would repair a dysfunctional grader for reshaping of Fosuansa-Mante/Amanor-Jahadzi/Otabikwaa-Brakwa-Eduosia-Afofosu, Kuntanase-Supuna/Akorakese-Odoben-Nankese-Tweredua road network and procure 12 motorbikes for Central Administration of the assembly, environmental unit and Education Directorate.
Mr Odoom mentioned construction classroom block for Odoben Presbyterian and Brakwa Eshiem and Ochisua schools, water and sanitation projects for Odoben and Kuntanase, Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Adumanu progressing steadily.
“People with disabilities have been supported with tools to undertake income generation activities, expectation of assembly to increase revenue generation to achieve target,” and tasked assembly members to vigorously sensitise their communities to honour their obligations to the state.
Mr Frank Aidoo, Presiding Member of the Assembly, urged members to put aside their political and personal interests and prioritise the welfare of the people who elected them.
