Autistic cyclist, Young Phil Bertino will be the guest rider at this year’s TeshieHomowo Cycling Challenge on Saturday.
The 14-year-old cycling sensation would join over 60 professional riders for the 17th edition of the challenge organized by Quick Step Cycling Club with support from the LiztinoCenter for Children with Special Needs.
Young Phil, who has over the year’s engaged in cycling as part of efforts to create awareness on autism across the country told the Times Sports, Saturday’s event would serve as another platform to exhibit his talent.
The 2021 challenge would be a 90km criteria race with 40 lapses and expected to have 12 clubs participating.
Organizer of the Challenge, Nathaniel SowahAgoe said they were excited to have Young Phil on board as it would go a long way to attract young people to the sport.
He said, there would be attractive prizes for distinguished cyclists and urged all to come on board to support.
He also asked cyclists to remain disciplined as they work towards making the challenge one of the best in the country.
The challenge forms part of activities to celebrate the TeshieHomowo festival.
