The Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG), has banned six members of the association for six years for gross misconduct.

The sanctions, according to the President of BAG, Mr. Evans Yeboah, followed a Disciplinary Committee hearing of cases involving the affected persons.

Additionally, it has placed four players on suspensionalso for misconduct and various offences.

The offenders, according to the BAG boss, failed to seek redress from the Internal Grievance/Dispute Resolution Committee of the association as captured in Article 41.5.1 of the BAG Constitution.

According to him, they ignored the internal structures for dispute resolution and resorted to court actions against the association and set up a parallel organization.

The supposed lawbreakers includeWilliam A. Odoi, Philip George Kweku Baah, John Otto, Otto Ampofo Boateng, Christopher Akuba and Camara Kwesi Obeng.

The affected players include Daniel Kweku Sam, Ebenezer Andrews and Grace Atipoka.

For the six-year period of the ban, they would have nothing to do with the association effective November 8, 2021.

“This notice has been served on them. We have expelled them from all BAG activities for the period.”

Mr. Yeboah, explained that by their constitution, “an expelled person loses his/her membership admission rights and other paid-up members will not entertain sporting contact with any expelled member under the statutes of the association.”

“The leadership of the association had no choice than to apply the sanctions per our constitution on these players and members under Article 41.5.2 which states that, any member who does not follow the internal procedure of the resolution committee as the first point of call for any dispute is automatically expelled for three years from the association without further reference and recourse to the member,” he explained.

The association, he said, would advise the rest of the members and players to use the right channel provided by BAG to address their concerns.
