The Black Queens continued their celebratory homecoming with a visit to the Jubilee House on Tuesday where they were warmly received by President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.

Led by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Adams, CAF 2nd Vice President and GFA President, Mr Kurt Okraku and other top officials, the team was commended for their discipline, determination, and for proudly representing Ghana on the African stage.

President Mahama praised the Queens for their footballing excellence and for inspiring a new generation of girls.

“The Black Queens have shown us what is possible when hard work, vision, and belief come together. Your achievement is a national one, and we are proud of each of you. This medal is only the beginning,” he said, adding that, “With support and the right structures, I believe you will bring home a higher medal and the ultimate trophy.”

The Presidency assured the team of the government’s commitment to improving conditions for women in sports, hinting at new policy directions and resource allocations to support female athletes.

The visit included a meet-and-greet session, photo opportunities, and a symbolic cash presentation to the team from the President and Vice President.

The Black Queens continue to receive accolades for bringing glory to the nation and highlighting the future of women’s football in Ghana.

In a related development, the Minority in Parliament has extended a generous donation of GH¢100,000 to the Black Queens, following their impressive performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

At a presentation ceremony at Parliament House in Accra, the Minority Leader, Mr Afenyo Markins, and a delegation of MPs commended the Black Queens for their resilience, determination, and passion, which earned Ghana a well-deserved bronze medal.

“The Black Queens have not only represented Ghana with dignity but have reignited belief in women’s football. This donation is our way of saying thank you for lifting the flag of Ghana high,” Mr. Afenyo said.

Led by Madam Patricia Appiagyei, the Minority presented the cash to the team and technical staff. This gesture is part of a broader call for increased investment in women’s sports and equal recognition of female athletes’ contributions to national development.
