The U.S. men’s national team will host Ghana’s Black Stars in a high-profile friendly match in October 2023 in preparation for its quarterfinal matches in the Concacaf Nations League.
The Yanks will play the Black Stars at the Geodis Park in Nashville, Tenn. with kickoff set at 8:30pm ET.
Ghana has twice knocked the United States out of World Cups (2006, 2010) and will be seeking their first win on U.S. soil in the all-time series.
“We have always been looking for these kinds of opportunities to continue our team building exercise, so playing against the United States of America has come in handy” President Simeon-Okraku told ghanafa.com.
“We have two more matches to end the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and would need matches of this nature to prepare for future assignments like the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
‘The game presents to us a very good platform to test our strength against one of the best teams in the World,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will open camp on Monday, June 12, in readiness for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
The team will train for at least four days in Accra before departing for Antananarivo on Friday, June 16, for the crucial Group E clash against Madagascar.
Ghana go into the game sitting on top of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cote d’Ivoire 2023 qualifying group with eight points after two wins and two draws in the first four matches.
The match will take place at Stade Kianja Barea in Antananarivo on Sunday, June 18. — Ghanafa
