The forward opened her account with a well-taken goal against Kong Hong, China, before producing a brilliant brace against Russia on match day two.

Goalkeeper Cynthia Findiib Konlan also delivered an impressive performance at the Pink Ladies Cup, winning the Best Goalkeeper award.

The deputy captain maintained a hundred per cent record of keeping two clean sheets in two matches. Her consistency and sharp reflexes played a crucial role in the team’s defensive strength, helping the Black Queens navigate the competition with ease.

Organisers of the tournament presented the scorers award and golden gloves to Boaduwaa and Konlan at the end of the competition in Sharjah, UAE. Their impressive showing will serve as a major confidence boost for them and the Black Queens as the team continue to build momentum.

In another development, Ajegipina Zakaria, one of the exciting young talents from Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC, is still basking in the joy of receiving her maiden call-up to the Black Queens.

Zakaria vividly remembers the moment she found out she had been selected to represent her country. “I was very, very happy,” she said. “I was at Ampem Darkoa when they told me they were calling me to come and play for the Black Queens. I told my parents first.”

Her journey to this point began at a remarkably young age. “I started playing football when I was about two years old,” she revealed. Growing up, she often played with boys, as girls’ football wasn’t as widely embraced in her community. “Girls, they don’t take football as something that is very, very good. But because of the guys, the way they are playing, I also joined them.”

Zakaria also spoke highly of her source of inspiration within the team, Captain Portia Boakye. “First, I was happy to have Portia. She’s a good player. If I’m playing with her, I’m always happy because she’s a talented player.”
