BonAgro Company Limited has donated agrochemicals and a tractor to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in support of this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration.
The donation includes agrochemicals valued at more than GH¢100,000 and a Lovol 604-B tractor worth over GH¢300,000. Among the items presented were Kingkong Sprayers, Bonsprayers, Captain Glyphosate, Bon Diuron, Kingkong Granules and the Last Show Dinotefuran, all intended to enhance farming activities across the country.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Accra, Mr Victor Nchonah, Country Manager of BonAgro, said the donation reflected the company’s unwavering commitment to supporting farmers and advancing agricultural development. He noted that BonAgro had been contributing to Farmers’ Day activities at the district level since 2016 by donating sprayers, agrochemicals, and other farm inputs.
According to him, this year’s theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure Ghana,” resonated strongly with the company and inspired them to expand their support to the national level for the first time. Beyond the agrochemicals, he emphasised that BonAgro was also motivated to provide heavy machinery such as tractors, as mechanisation remains key to improving productivity and ensuring food security.
Mr Nchonah added that the company was committed to complementing the government’s efforts to modernise agriculture, especially at a time when the sector was expected to drive national development and contribute significantly to economic stability.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Eric Opoku, commended BonAgro for its consistent support and dedication to empowering farmers. He noted that such interventions from the private sector play a crucial role in strengthening agricultural systems and improving yields.
Mr Opoku gave the assurance that all donated items would be distributed fairly and directly to farmers across the country to enhance their operations and promote increased production. “We assure you that everything donated will go straight to Ghanaian farmers. Nothing will be diverted,” he stressed.
He further encouraged other private-sector entities to follow BonAgro’s example by supporting national efforts aimed at transforming the agricultural sector. The initiative forms part of BonAgro’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment toward promoting growth in the agricultural sector.
