A former Comptroller of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), BrigadierGeneral Richardson Baiden (Rtd) was last Thursday awarded by the West African Noble Forum (WANF) in Accra.
He was presented with a medallion and citation in recognition of his commitment to a life of excellence, integrity, selfless service to humanity, contribution to global and industrial advancement.
The Executive Director of WANF, Dr Dee Otibu-Asare, making the presentation stressed the need to recognise excellence in the country.
He said Brig-Gen Baiden had been a member of the WANF for so many years and awarded for his strong moral principles.
The Executive Director stated that since the inception of forum 20 years ago, the group had sought to honour eminent personality for their contribution in diverse ways of the economy.
Dr Otibu-Asare said the forum which made up of a group of eminent Africans sought to promote integrity and accountability in the leadership of West African state governments.
Brig-Gen Baiden who is also a member of Council of State in receiving the award thanked the management of WANF for the honouring him.
He commended WANF for its objectives to put together prominent West Africans of noble minds to identify and address the problems in the sub-region.
“This award is motivating and would encourage many followers to give off their best in all that they do,” he added
He urged the youth to work hard to accomplish their goals and aspirations in life.
“Knowledge is power as the youth of the country you must all take opportunity to study to accomplish your goals and aspirations at all times,” he added.
WANF is a non-governmental, religious and non-political organisation which was established on October 8, 2003, and has membership strength of about 3,000 across the sub-region.
The programme was graced by family members, friends, retired officers from the Ghana Armed Forces and personnel from the Customs Division of Ghana Revenue Authority.
