Athletics fans would be served with first class athletics performance tomorrow when the Confederation of Africa Athletics(CAA) Region II Championship gets underway at the University of Ghana, Legon Sports Stadium.
The two-day event will be climaxed on Wednesday with fireworks when top athletes across Africa attempt to ‘finish hard’ to cross a tape that could guarantee an Olympic Games appearance. melbet login kenya
Expected to grace the occasion is Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, the President of Ghana Athletics, Fuseini Bawah, officials of African Athletics and other dignitaries.
The event, sanctioned as a Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifier, will attract athletes from across the region, including host country Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Gabon, Gambia, Baukina Faso, Niger, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire.
They would compete in the sprints, distance races, hurdles, relays and field events.
Mr Charles Osei Asibey, First Vice President of Ghana Athletics (GA), told the Times Sports yesterday that Ghana’s team, will be seeking Olympic qualification in relays and individual events against stiff competition from their West African neighbors.
He said the team has been training intensively and was determined to make their home advantage count.
“The two-day event promises to be a thrilling display of speed, strength, and endurance, with some of the region’s best athletes battling it out for medals and glory,” he said.

9am to 3pm tomorrow and Wednesday,and urged athletics fans to throng the venue in their numbers to cheer on Team Ghana
