Can Kotoko pass Samartex test?

The Nsenkyire Arena in Samarboi will be the action spot this weekend as the match day 24 Ghana Premier League fixtures are cleared.

It will mark a date for a sumptuous clash between local side, Samartex, and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Referee Adaara Abdul Latif will be at the centre of proceedings as Samartex attempt a giant win to shape their withering campaign that has been characterised by inconsistent outcomes.

The Porcupine Warriors, on the other hand, appeared to have established an all-conquering rhythm that has catapulted them to the top sport of the league table.

Unlike in the previous round where they need to win to reclaim their position, the Porcupine Warriors would be playing ahead of their competitors with the possibility of extending the lead being their biggest motivation.

Form-wise, Kotoko look ready for silverware but what might derail progress may be their failure to withstand the fiery darts aimed at them by their competitors.

But from what has been witnessed so far from Samartex current form, Kotoko can stretch the lead but in doing so, they must be clinical in front of goal.

After losing to Hearts of Oak last weekend, Young Apostles head back to the Nana Agyeman Badi I Park in Dormaa to host the clash against Accra Lions.

The have just failed to roar. They have lost the fear factor and that situation is not likely to end their weekend as Young Apostles draw Accra Lions.

That would attract a female referee, Juliet Appiah, who would have a tough task at hand as the Lions attempt to upset the home team.

Lions’ poor run had continued from last season where they escaped narrowly from relegation but sadly lost a few players on the transfer market.

Sadly, they are yet to overcome that challenge. It will continue against Young Apostles, a side determined to avoid a second defeat in a row.

They gave a good account of themselves in the match against the Phobians but were unable to break their backline.

The Lions would not offer a similar opposition in this scenario and that would lead to the advantage of the home side.

Again at home, Hearts of Oak will maintain the pressure of the top two on the table as they engage Dreams FC at the Legon Sports Stadium.

The Phobians won their previous game but could not celebrate as expected as they were charged by the Ghana Football Association for match day security protocol breach.

Hearts would leave nothing to chances this time around. They would focus on getting their preparation and arrangement for the game right and climax it with a win over Dreams FC.

Referee for this match encounter is David Addaney.

Vision FC would be in another battle of fireworks when they travel to Bechem to face Bechem United with referee Alphonse Atiapah in the middle.

The host have not shown the form of the last two seasons and have struggled to maintain a top spot this season.

However, their impressive performance at home can be enough to send the Tema boys packing home empty handed.

Still serving a home ban, Nsoatreman FC will lock horns with Basake Holy Stars at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena in another expected to be full of fireworks.

The Kpando Stadium will host the Kpando Heart of Lions versus Karela match while Nations FC host Medeama SC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Stadium.

Legon Cities will be at home against Berekum Chelsea in a game of equals.
