A 24-year-old carpenter, who allegedly stabbed a 61-year-old female co-tenant without any provocation, has been remanded in police custody by the Circuit Court in Accra.
James AppiahKorang is said to have stabbed the victim in the head, lower abdomen, and her left breast.
Korang, charged with causing harm, has pleaded not guilty and is expected to reappear before court on September 14.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) E. Nyamekye opposed the grant of bail, saying accused was a flight risk.
Prosecution said the victim, Aunty Yaa, is unemployed and accused resides at Nima, Accra, with complainant.
ASP Nyamekyesaid the victim had been nursing an ankle injury and had been advised to exercise.
The court heard that the victim, who was jogging around the house, realised that accused was following her.
ASP Nyamekyesaid when the victim turned to ascertain who was trailing her, accused used an implement suspected to be a knife to stab her head, lower abdomen, and the left breast.
He said Korangafter committing the act, took to his heels,but the victim raised the alarm and she was rushed to the Ridge Hospital for treatment.
A report was made to the police and accused was nabbed and handed to the police. -GNA
