Chainsaw operator gets 10 years for causing unlawful damage

The Jasikan Circuit Court has sentenced a 31-year-old chainsaw operator, Kingsley Tabitey, to 10 years imprisonment for causing unlawful damage.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vincent Seth Kpodo told the court that Godsway Agboli, a student of Rev. Father Dogli Memorial Senior Technical School, at Ayoma, in the Jasikan Municipality, and part time commercial rider (Okada), lived in the same vicinity.

The court presided over by Mr. Alfred Kwabena Asiedu heard that the convict asked the student, to use his motorcycle to transport him to Tapa Amanya, in the Biakoye District.

Prosecution said while on the journey to Tapa Amanya, Tabitey asked the student to stop the motorcycle to enable him (convict) to urinate.

ASP Kpodo said after urinating, they continued the journey, and Tabitey drew a knife and attempted to slash Agboli’s throat.

Prosecution said in the process, Agboli lost control of the steering and veered off the road into a nearside bush.

He said the convict snatched the motorcycle from the student and sped off. —gbcghanaonline.com
