Christians across the world over the weekend held church services to mark Good Friday and Easter Sunday and commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

They honoured the days with morning and evening services throughout the weekend.

The Ghanaian Times observed during the weekend that most churches were filled as members attended services religiously, singing songs of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, listening to the word and making merry.

They were urged to remain assured of their salvation as Christ had “fully paid the price and nailed it all on the cross.”

They were not to heed to carnal notions, perceptions and theories concerning the death of Christ and their salvation but concentrate on the word of God.

Pastor Philip Pascal Asiedu, Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), West Hills, who said this in the sermon last Sunday at the Easter Convention in Accra noted that it was time Christians let go of certain fears, beliefs and myths.

He indicated that the resurrection power was proof of their salvation and the mighty power they possessed because of the spirit of God (thus the Holy Spirit) who resided in them.

“But if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwell in you,”Romans 8:11, King James version,  Pastor Asiedu added.

He said Christianity was the only religion with its originator alive, as such Christians should not belittle their faith and the power they possessed.

Pastor Jonathan Amoakwah at the Church of Pentecost (CoP), Kasoa Area Convention, who similarly shared in the view that Jesus served as ransom for our salvation, said redemption was pivotal in the lives of Christians.

For that reason, he underscored that it was imperative Christians do away with any lifestyle which was in contravention of the Christian faith or against the will of God.

Catechist Alexander Sakyi Ansah at the Presbyterian Church, Brigade, who reiterated that the resurrection power was at work in the lives Christians, said that that power had also restored “any dead thing in their lives.”

He, therefore, advised them to keep the faith and their charge here on earth and ensure that they were not swayed away.

ANITA ANKRAH reported that Rev. Philip Tutu at the End Time Revival Centre, Madina, speaking on the theme “Revive Thy Work through the Resurrection Power, Oh Lord,” entreated Christians to keep going in for what they wanted in life and never give up.

Referencing the Bible, he said Mary Magdalene stayed by the tomb until she saw Jesus while the disciples left.

Emphasising that resurrection of Christ signified the energy bestowed on Christians to do more of the kingdom business.
