COVID-19 cases climb to 204 …in 5 regions

Ghana yesterday recorded nine new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 204 from 195.

All nine cases were recorded in the Greater Accra Region which is also the epicentre of the virus in the country.

According to the latest update on the official Ghana Health Service website for COVID-19, four of the nine had neither travel history nor had contact with any confirmed case in the country.

However, even though other four also had no travel history, they were confirmed to have had contacts with persons with confirmed cases in the country.

The other person was said to have traveled to Ghana from neighbouring Benin within the past 14 days.

Ghana has now recorded 204 cases COVID-19 with five deaths.

The number of regions that had reported cases still remain at five. They include, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern, Upper West and Eastern Regions.


The Greater Accra Region has recorded the most cases of 183, followed by the Northern Region with ten cases, Ashanti Region with nine and the Upper West and Eastern Regions with one case respectively.

Most of the cases are reported from routine and enhanced surveillance activities.

However, cases from travelers under mandatory quarantine still remain at 89.The enhanced surveillance refers to the ongoing collection of information among persons suspected to have contracted the disease.
