Legendary gospel trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus last Tuesday, launched their 30th anniversary in the music industry.
The trail blazing trio, including Cynthia Appiadu, Edna Sarpong and Monica Owusu-Ansah have been ministering the word of God through music to the admiration of Ghanaians and foreigners over the years.
Several activities including a tour in the United Kingdom, a concert, book launch and various charity works have been earmarked for the celebration of the milestone.
In an interview with Times weekend, Madam Edna said “It is only by the grace of God that we are alive today to celebrate three decades in music. We are very grateful to our maker for this opportunity,” she said.
The songstress thanked fans of Daughters of Glorious Jesus for their support over the years and promised to keep thrilling them with more inspirational gospel songs.
Daughters of Glorious Jesus were the first gospel artists to win the Ghana Music Awards’ Artiste of the Year category in 2000.
With 13 albums to their credit so far, the group has countless hit songs to their credit including Mebo Wo Din Daa, Edin No, Asomdwoe Hene, Tumi Wo Mu, Fata Ayeyie, Ewurade, Yesu, Woye M’ade Nyinaa, Aseda Ben, Yeyi Waye, Okasa Preko, Fa wasem to Awurade anim, Momma yenben Awurade, Odomfo and Onokwafo Nyame among others.
Their debut album was Anwanwa Do, released in 1990. Since then, they have consistently won awards locally and internationally through a number of albums and hit songs.
