The Member of Parliament for Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama, last Saturday cut sod for commencement of work to begin on 1million dollar skills and development Centre.
The project is an initiative of the MP with funding support from the Morocco Government.
The project is expected to be completed within one year and would be furnished with modern equipment to train more an employ youth in skills development.
Dr Mahama commended the Morocco Government for the construction of the centre and said, it would go a long way to relief the burden of an employment in the area.
Dr Mahama addressing the media at the ceremony said, Yendi occupy a special place in the books of Morocco as it was the son of the soil, the late Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama who championed the renewal of bilateral ties in 2001.
He said the construction of the skills development Centre was a promise he made to the people of the constituency during his 2020 campaign.
Dr Mahama said, he is committed to the New Yendi City project that would anchored on building relations to foster development for the good people of Yendi and the surrounding communities.
He added that, the connection between Yendi and the people of Morocco had to be explore of issues of mutual interest in Yendi.
The Morocco Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Quaadil, said Ghana had over the years enjoyed the traditional warm and cordial relationship with the people of Morocco.
She said Ghana and Morocco relations dated back to advocate for the liberation of African unity through the Casablanca Group and the non-aligned movement since 1961.
The Ambassador however, commended the former President Agyekum Kufuor and the late Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama for renewing the bilateral relation between Ghana and Morocco.
