A Senior Lecturer at the Ho Technical University (HTU), Dr Stanley Nelvis Glate, has declared his intention to contest the vacant Volta Regional Secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The position became vacant following the appointment of the former Regional Secretary, Mr James Gunu, as Volta Regional Minister.

Declaring his intention at a press conference in Ho over the weekend, Dr Glate pledged to promote unity, transparency and accountability while ensuring regular engagement with constituency and branch executives.

He said his vision was to build an NDC Volta Region where every constituency felt valued, branches received the needed support, and party activists were heard and recognised.

“I envision an NDC Volta Region where every constituency feels valued, every branch feels supported, every activist feels heard, and every dedicated party member has a reason to continue to believe in our cause,” he said.

Dr Glate, who is also the Ho Technical University branch President of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) and a member of the Volta Regional Communication Team, said he would strengthen communication between the Regional Secretariat and constituencies.

He said the secretariat under his leadership would provide party structures with timely information, coordinate their activities and ensure that they received the necessary support.

According to him, he would work with the party to identify and confront its challenges and transform its weaknesses into opportunities.

Dr Glate also pledged to strengthen relations among Members of Parliament (MPs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), constituency and branch executives, as well as party activists.

He said the NDC’s strength lay not only in the Regional Secretariat but in the collective efforts of its branches, electoral areas and communities.

“I am offering myself to build the bridge. Together, we can build confidence, strengthen our structures and inspire our activists for future victories,” he said.

Dr Glate stressed that his decision to contest was not about an individual but about the grassroots, adding that the party needed to embark on a new journey of service and reposition the NDC in the Volta Region
