An education consultant, Alhaji Mohammed Haroon, was on Saturday honoured in Accra with the Africa’s Living Legend award, by the Nigerian Royal International Elation Magazine for his contribution in the field of education.

Popularly known as Cambodia, Alhaji Haroon, former Northern Regional Director of Education, has been conferred the honours along with 15 other Nigerians who excelled in their various fields of endeavour

The recipients, 13 men and three women, were inducted into the Africa’s Living Legend Hall of Fame. The three women were conferred Mother Africa Merit Award.

In the night fill with elegance of Nigeria traditional wear, the recipient, most of them Nigerians, were presented with a certificate, a medal and a plaque.

Alhaji Haroon, an education system transformer, told The Ghanaian Times on the sideline that he was pleased to be given an award that he had no prior knowledge, and expressed his gratitude to the organisers for the honour done to him.

Alhaji Haroon expressed the need for people to be committed, loyal and dedicated to whatever they do to touch the hearts of humanity and be recognised and appreciated.

The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Elation Magazine, High Chief Darlinghtyn Momoh Umoru, in his address said, “Kwame Nkrumah, our first president in this country said the independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it’s connected to the total liberation of all the African countries.”

“And as a pastor, I’m saying to all of us, our wealth, our money, and our fame we got, give us the grace to be in life. It’s meaningless unless it is connected to the liberation of others,” he added.

“We’ll look at people that have allowed themselves to be the source of flow, people who have allowed people to drink from them, people who have allowed people to benefit from their gift, people who have allowed people to benefit from the grace they have, and they have shown empathy and have shown kind of love to others. And we have decided to gather you here today to award you,” he stated.

The Editor-in-Chief praised the award winners and encouraged people to do more for humanity adding “And personally, if we have to award, I know about 70 people in this hall who deserve the award, who should be awarded, but the second phase will be coming on and everybody will be awarded.”
