The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West Constituency in the Central Region, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has cautioned members, supporters and sympathisers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to eschew politics of insults, vindictiveness and internal wrangling to ensure peace, unity and stability to help the party clinch victory in 2024.
She explained that it was important for faithful, sympathisers and well-wishers of the party to refrain from hatred and other acts, which could tarnish the image of the party, rather pursue harmony, cohesion and mutual understanding to strengthen it at the grassroots.
“Let us engage in constructive criticisms rather than insults, vindictiveness, internal wrangling to foster peaceful, united and stable front to make our party attractive to first time voters, floating and continuous voters to help break eight years of political party rule and make unprecedented feat in winning three conservative elections in the Fourth Republic,” the MP stressed.
Mrs Morrison, also the former Minister of Gender Children and Social Protection, cautioned at the swearing-in of 25 members of the Council of Elders, Patrons and members ofthe Disciplinary Committee of the Agona West Constituency at Swedru in the Central Region.
She declared her intention to contest the upcoming primaries to enable her to contest the 2024 parliamentary election and was hopeful constituents would give her another mandate to serve them to continue improving their livelihoods with progress, growth and development projects.
Kenneth Quansah, the Central Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP, urged the Council of Elders, patrons and members of the Disciplinary Committee to work within the confines of the law, regulations, rules and ethics of the party to enhance peace, unity, harmony and stability.
He appealed to the hierarchy of the party to adequately resource the youth to ensure they worked harder to achieve the party’s objectives adding that “breaking the eight is possible, doable and achievable but it requires mutual understanding, consensus and cooperation among members and supporters to win the presidential slot and majority seats in Parliament in 2024”.
Samuel Eduful, the Chairman of the Council of Elders, gave the assurance they would work to promote peace, stability, cohesion and unity and called for healthy competition in order not to drive away first time and floating voters.
