Former President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), Mr Johnson Clifford Aboagye, will be laid to rest on Saturday at the Osu Public Cemetery.
Mr Aboagye, whose administration lasted between 2002 and 2008, died on December 14, last year, at age 71.
Hundreds of mourners, including Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President, Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah, and GWF capo, Mr Jerry Ahmed Shaib, as well as members of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Authority (NSA), among others, are expected to troop into the forecourt of the State House on Saturday morning for filing past as they pay their last respects.
The late Aboagye’s tenure saw Ghana clinch hordes of medals, including a first Commonwealth Games gold for Ghana in Melbourne, Australia. 2006.
