The Greater Accra Assembly Members Association (GAAMA) has pledge its support for the president’s nominees for the position of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
It asked residents to remain calm and trust the wisdom of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and to throw their unflinching and unwavering support and assistance of the nominees in the Greater Accra Region and across the country.
“We in the Greater Accra region are very much aware of the excitement and shock waves that the announcement brings to our people at the local level however, we asked them to remain calm, steadfast and trust the wisdom of the president the nominees will deliver on their mandate,” the association said.
In a statement jointly signed by Nana Opoku Danso, and Alfred Adjei, Coordinator and General Secretary respectively of the association, said the association understood the various competing interests involved, the emotional investment as well as the financial commitment to the processes.
It said since they were a family and in such times their commitment, dedication and determination should be to the sustenance of the government, the party and communities towards accelerated development of the country.
“We are a family and in times like these our commitment, dedication and determination should be to the sustenance of the family and communities, as the direct representative of the people, the members have analysed, listened and solicited the views of our people hence concluded that they support the president’s nominees.
“If the citizenry retains the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the basis of President Akufo-Addo’s vision and hope to make our motherland a better place, we are convinced it will go in line with his nominees in achieving the development agenda,” the statement said.
It said it was on the premise the association was promising the president, Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development and the Greater Accra Regional Minister of their absolute support and assistance in endorsing all of the president’s nominees in the Greater Accra and other regions. -GNA
