The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has handed a six-month suspension to boxer Patrick Allotey for his assault on a football fan at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The decision was taken after Tuesday’s GBA Disciplinary Committee meeting with the boxer over misconduct charges leveled against the WBO Africa welterweight champion.
Allotey was charged by the FA after he assaulted a football fan at the Accra Sports Stadium on January 26 when Hearts of Oak suffered a 2-1 defeat to Kotoko.
A statement from the GBA yesterday said “following the hearing, the GBA found you liable on your own plea and has imposed a six-month suspension of your professional boxing license as the appropriate as the appropriate sanction.”
“The suspension takes effect from today (February 6, 2020).”
It said the GBA will notify the sanctioning bodies about the development to ensure full compliance.
