THE maiden Ghana Export and SME Fair (GEXPO 2026), scheduled for November, is expected to drive President John Dramani Mahama’s accelerated export agenda, bringing together more than 500 exhibitors and international buyers to promote non-traditional exports and expand market access.

The five-day event, to be held from Wednesday, November 18, to Sunday, November 22, 2026, at the Black Star Square in Accra, is being organised by Accra Markets & Expo Limited in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.

Accra Markets & Expo Limited has announced that official exhibitor registration is open for the maiden edition of the fair.

The Exhibitions and Project Manager of the company, Mr Frederick Avornyo, announced this in a statement issued yesterday and copied to the Ghanaian Times.

The statement said GEXPO 2026 was designed as a flagship multi-sectoral export and investment platform to showcase Ghanaian products and services to international markets.

It said the fair would bring together indigenous enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), foreign trade missions, institutional financiers and international retail buyers to promote high-value Made-in-Ghana goods and services.

The event is being organised in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Ghana Exim Bank, the Federation of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA).

According to the statement, GEXPO 2026 is expected to support the government’s Accelerated Export Development Programme, which seeks to transform the economy into an export-led manufacturing hub and reduce dependence on imports.

It said the fair would focus on high-growth sectors, including agro-processing, textiles and apparel, cosmetics and natural oils, light manufacturing, digital trade and exportable commercial services.

The initiative is also expected to help local businesses expand their market reach under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and increase non-traditional export earnings.

The statement said the fair would go beyond exhibitions by providing structured business-to-business engagements to connect Ghanaian producers with international buyers, procurement networks and institutional off-takers to facilitate long-term export agreements.

It added that technical training sessions led by trade and standards experts would cover AfCFTA rules of origin, international packaging standards, phytosanitary requirements and tailored credit facilities through Ghana Exim Bank.

The programme would also feature a daily food bazaar, live performances and music showcases, with trading activities expected to continue into the evening to attract more visitors and encourage domestic consumption.

SMEs, manufacturers, agro-processors and trade service providers have been encouraged to participate in the fair to explore new markets, establish business partnerships and access international supply chains.
