The Global Chairman of World Assemblies of God Fellowship (WAGF), Reverend Dominic Yeo, briefing the press at the 2024 WAGF Executive Meeting in Accra yesterday said choosing Ghana for the upcoming congress was dominantly informed by the peaceful and free environment over the years.
According to him, Ghana has demonstrated that it was indeed the beacon of hope for Africa as it democratically and peacefully elect political leaders every four years without any destructions.
“Ghanaians continue to co-exist peacefully, irrespective of their political, religious or ethnic differences. We commend all Ghanaians for their tolerance, and urge that the upcoming elections, be held in the same peaceful manner as the previous ones,” he asserted.
Rev Yeo said the Assemblies of God (AG) Worldwide was standing with Ghanaians in prayer as the scriptures enjoined them to pray for nations in which they dwell, “We believe that all political, security and other actors in the electoral process will do their jobs well in the interest of peace.”
Touching on the event which started in 1994, he stated that this was the first time in the past 110 years of Assemblies of God that Africa was hosting such high level meeting.
With about 86 million members globally and 24 million in Africa alone, the Global Chairman said the congress would bring economic benefits to the country by growing business, attract investors as well as pushing Ghana higher on the world stage.
“The purpose of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship is to pursue the fulfilment of the Lord’s command to evangelize the lost in the shortest possible time, providing them the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel in all its fullness, by encouraging and assisting one another, promoting harmonious relationships, and seeking the most effective means of its accomplishment under the dynamic leadership of the Holy Spirit,” he noted.
