The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) on Monday joined Ghanaians in Accra to mourn the eight people that perished in Wednesday’s helicopter crash at Adansi area in the Ashanti region.
Led by its president, Mr Richard Akpokavie, the Committee’s executive laid wreaths at the forecourt of the Jubilee House in Accra.
The group laid wreaths on behalf of the Ghana Olympic Committee, the Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) of Ghana and the entire sports fraternity in honour of the departed statesmen, paying respects to their memory, legacy and their ultimate sacrifice.
The eight included the Minister of Defense, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Dr Mohammed Murtala, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Mr Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader, Peter Anala, Flying Officer, Mane-Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Speaking to the media, the GOC President, Mr Akpokavie, indicated that the institution commiserates with government and the people of Ghana, noting that the late former Deputy Sports Minister and Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, was scheduled as a baton bearer for the rescheduled King’s Baton Relay
