GoldStars target ‘Africa’in second season

• Michael Osei

Bibiani Goldstars Head Coach, Michael Osei says his side lost out on a top four placing in the just ended 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) because they lacked experience at that level.

GoldStars put up a late rally to clinch a 10th position on their debut season at the elite competition.

Speaking to the Times Sports, Coach Osei said every team needs experience to play at that level and survive “but we lacked it. We relied solely on hard work to survive the season. On the whole, it was a challenging one.”

The former Asante Kotoko midfielder has since commended the players and the technical team for the performance they put up to survive and place a respectable 10th position.

“We’ll definitely make some additions to the team to make it strong. We have the assurance of the board to make some finance available for us to make a few purchases to strengthen the team at areas identified as weak.”

With the new season registration window opened, Michael Osei told the Times Sports the club has identified a few targets which they hope to pursue and get the right result as they target a place for Africa Club competition next season.

He said a date would soon be communicated for members of the team to commence preparation for the new season which will be their second.

Goldstars made their maiden appearance in the GPL in the 2021/22 season after spending 23years in the lower divisions.

They won winning 14 matches in all.
