Four ladies from the Captain One Golf Society’s Kid’s Project excelled in the just ended Telecel 69th Asantehene Open held at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.
At the end of proceedings, three out of the four players earned a podium finish.
They are Ayisha Aminu, Jennifer Satura, Fadilatu Adam, and Zakia Hudu joined experienced golfers in the ladies and support categories of the championship and managed to get a podium finish.
In the ladies’ handicap finals, a winner of SWAG Awards’ discovery of the year, Ayisha Aminu finished second with a net score of 159 to receive a trophy, refrigerator and a package from Guiness Ghana Limited.
She was second to Eunice Serwaa Mpeniasah, who ended the 18-hole course with a net score of 154, while Vivian Dick finished third with a net score of 159.
In the ladies’ support group, Zakia Hudu and Fadilatu Adam finished second and third with 38 and 32 points respectively. They were awarded with a trophy and a package from title sponsors, Telecel.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Satura finished seventh with 22 points.
Speaking to the media, Head Girl for Captain One Golf Society’s Kids Project, Ayisha Aminu, said finishing on the podium was a tremendous honour for the team saying, “We knew the competition would be tough, but everyone remained focused, trusted the process and believed in our ability from the opening round to the final putt.”
She expressed gratitude to the sponsors and Captain One Golf Society.
Y.B Okyere, the Head Coach for the team, also added that, “We’re delighted with the performance of the team throughout the 69th Telecel Asantehene Open Golf Championship. The players executed our game plan with discipline, remained composed under pressure and displayed the consistency needed to compete at the highest level.
“This success reflects the hard work, commitment and sacrifices made over the past months. Winning such a prestigious tournament is a proud moment for us, and I commend every player for rising to the occasion.”
