‘GROHE committed to addressing shortage of skilled labour in plumbing industry’

Grohe, a leading global brand for bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, says it is committed to helping address the shortage of skilled workforce for Ghana’s plumbing industry.

Christopher Penny, Leader of GROHE Installer Vocational and Education Programme, LIXIL EMENA of GROHE, disclosed this at the graduation of GROHE GIVE Programme.

Fifty plumbing students graduated after going through a three-week intensive practical and theoretical training in plumbing.

Each student was given a certificate and a backpack with plumbing tools.

GROHE launched the GIVE in Ghana in 2021 to help improve training within the plumbing and sanitary industry.

As part of the programme, GROHE has struck a three-year partnership with Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) and also provided the school with a fully functioning plumbing shop with modern plumbing equipment.

In his remarks, Mr Penny said the GROHE GIVE Programme was aimed at upgrading the level of technical expertise in Ghana’s plumbing industry and equipping the youth with the requisite skills and knowledge for the industry.

Mr Penny said in view of the shortage of skilled workforce, GROHE introduced the GIVE Programme to fill the gap.

“The GROHE GIVE Programme’s curriculum is practical oriented and designed to teach students the specialties, subspecialties and intricacies of plumbing. This will ensure that they are capable of installing and maintaining our expanding product range before they embark on their future careers in the plumbing industry,” he said.

The Leader of North and West Africa, LIXIL EMENA, Antoine Kaissar, said, “As a global top brand for sanitary solutions, we are committed to making a positive impact on plumbing industries around the world. Hence, the development of our GIVE Programme, where we spearhead a knowledge revolution in sanitary and bathroom solutions”.
