The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) has been recognised as one of Ghana’s top contributors to national development at the 3rd Ghana Development Awards in Accra yesterday.
Organisers, Business Executives, honoured ICU-Ghana for “Outstanding Contribution to Labour Rights and Industrial Harmony for National Development.”
The union’s General Secretary, Morgan Ayawine, received a medal, plaque, and certificate before an audience of government officials, diplomats, and business leaders from across Africa.
“ICU-Ghana’s award recognises its outstanding contribution to labour rights and industrial harmony for national development,” Mr Ayawine said.
The citation highlighted the union’s leadership, partnership approach, long-term commitment to labour advocacy, resilience, and contribution to socio-economic recovery.
ICU leaders described the recognition as humbling and dedicated it to union staff, members, and workers nationwide. They said it would serve as a springboard for deeper advocacy in labour, business, and industry.
“The Union is deeply humbled by this recognition and expresses its sincere appreciation to the organisers for this honour,” the statement added.
The award underscores ICU-Ghana’s role in promoting labour rights, fostering industrial harmony, and contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
