The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters to the rank of Chief Inspector for his role in saving lives during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.
The promotion follows Inspector Atubra’s intervention during the fire, where he assisted people trapped in the affected area and helped evacuate them to safety.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, the police said the fire occurred on August 26, 2026, when some shops at the Aboso Main Lorry Station were engulfed in flames, resulting in damage to property.
Inspector Atubra, who was the first Police officer to arrive at the scene, immediately took action to assist people trapped in the affected area and helped evacuate the victims to safety.
His actions were highly commended by people who witnessed the incident, leading to a recommendation for his promotion in recognition of his courage, quick response and efforts to save life and property.
The Police Administration said the promotion underscored its commitment to recognising and rewarding officers who demonstrate exceptional courage, dedication and commitment to duty.
