Martha Kwayie Manu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Juaboso in the Western North Region, has vowed to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Juabeso Constituency, Kwabena Mintah Akando, if she gets the nod in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.
“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has occupied the parliamentary seat since the constituency was created, but in the 2020 elections, we must take the seat from them because the gap between the NDC and NPP parliamentary elections is gradually getting closer,” she intimated.
Madam Martha Manu, who is described as a visionary and industrious woman has officially picked nomination forms to contest the upcoming NPP parliamentary primaries in the Juabeso constituency.
The two-time parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the constituency touted that with the experience she gained from her previous defeats in parliamentary elections, it was time the party unseated the NDC in the 2020 elections.
According to her, “in the 2012 general election, the incumbent MP garnered 19,433 votes, while NPP polled 8,293 votes and that in the 2016 elections, Mr Akando polled 17,233 votes against 15,604 for me, the gap can easily be closed if we work harder in 2020.
“Three years as DCE, resulted in considerable level of growth and development of the district such as construction of classrooms, provision of potable drinking water, extension of electricity to rural areas, scholarship for tertiary students in the district, health facilities, all point to the fact that when I get the mandate to contest the parliamentary seat to become the MP I will do more to enhance the development of the area,” Madam Martha Manu assured.
She will contest Dr Alex Ampabeng and Mr Francis Akpayon when the party holds parliamentary primaries on September 28, 2019 for ‘orphan constituencies’ simultaneously across the country and Juabeso constituency is one of those constituencies. –GNA
