Alhaji Mubarak Muntaka, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has pleaded with his constituents to immortalise the Asawase parliamentary seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to enable the party continue development projects stalled by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
He accused the government of abandoning projects geared towards improving livelihoods initiated by the John Mahama-led administration unfortunately stalled by the current government which had resulted in socio-economic hardships.
Alhaji Muntaka, who is also the Minority Chief Whip pleaded with his constituents after a three-hour health walk dubbed: ‘Muntaka4Peace’ organised by the constituency executives of the party as part of campaign for Alhaji Mubarak and the NDC to retain the seat and for former President Mahama to recapture power in the 2020 elections.
He cautioned that without peace and unity within the rank and file of the party it would be difficult for the party to recapture power in 2021 and appealed to party members, faithful and well wishers to close their ranks and make the party attractive, focused and resolute to win back power.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North
Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, who took part in the exercise with some
Minority MPs, asked the electorate to participate fully in the 2020 elections
to redeem the country from NPP’s bad governance which had brought hardship to
the citizenry.
“Next year’s elections will be centred on a
rescue mission, it is time we rescue the country from job losses due to the
collapse of banking and financial institutions, nepotism and corruption among
others.
“The Akufo-Addo-led administration of
abandoning some road and health projects initiated by his predecessor, Mr Mahama,
especially in the Ashanti Region and we must intensify our door-to-door
campaigns to win back the electorate into our fold especially the floating and
first timers to win the elections and continue the good initiatives of the NDC
so as to ameliorate our plight,” Mr Ablakwa charged. -myjoyonline.com
