In all, 50queen mothers and women opinion leaders in the Lower Town Axim and Nsein Traditional Council in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region have been sensitised on how to run their businesses.

The one-day workshop was organised by Invest in Africa in collaboration with the Lower Town Axim and Nsein Traditional Council.

The Senior Capacity Building Consultant at Invest in Africa, Mr Emmanuel Adentwi told the Queen Mothers to consider their businesses as their own children and treat them as such.

He said when children went to school they came back with reports indicating their performances at the school so all business people must check their performances daily, weekly and monthly to find out whether they were progressing or falling in the business.

Mr Adentwi advised the women to spend more of their time on their business instead of going round attending weddings, out doorings, social gatherings and other unnecessary outings where money was spent on cloths and other materials.

He said the more social gatherings you attended, the more money you spent on these social gatherings and so the collapse of the business was eminent because you had little time for the business adding “your business is your child so pay great attention to the business.”

MrAdentwi told the queen mothers that it did not matter how you started the business but your focus on the business would lead you to greater heights.

The Programme Coordinator at Invest in Africa, Ms Tina Boadi said the ultimate goal was to train the queen mothers and other women leaders to move from the table top business to kiosk and then to container and eventually get a big store providing employment to the youth in this country.

One of the queen mothers, Nana Ndale II of Lower Town Axim, in an interview said the workshop was very educative.

She said it was an eye opener because traders were making petty mistakes that brought their businesses to a collapse without knowing how they collapsed the business.

She said they would now know how to handle their finances, when to leave the business and attend other functions and so grow the businesses.

Nana Asoua II said she had learnt more at the workshop and as a trainer of trainees she would make sure all women within her community have an insight of what she has learnt in order to improve on their businesses.

The President and Paramount Chief of Lower Town Axim and Nseintraditional area, AwulaeAgyefi Kwame II said the empowerment of women in his traditional area was paramount in the next coming years.

He said the theme for the 2022 Kundum “Developing Women’s Entrepreneurial Capabilities-The Way Forward” was chosen to sensitise all Queen Mothers and Women Leaders to train their counterparts to excel in business.

He said if women were well empowered and running big businesses the communities would be more peaceful and rapid development would take place because women were better manageresses.
