It’s time to cut off the head of the galamsey serpent!

GALAMSEY is every bit as evil as the serpent which tricked Eve to eat the forbidden fruit and get Adam to eat it too.

As you may remember, DEATH, and before it, HARD LABOUR, were the punishment that was imposed on Adam and Eve, following their act of disobedience in the Garden of Eden.

Now, the gold that galamseyers obtain, against the laws of our land, is just as alluring to galamseyers as the forbidden fruit was to Adam and Eve. But that’s where the similarity between the two acts ceases to apply. Whereas the Almighty and merciful God was unimpressed by Adam’s excuse that it was “the woman you gave me” that had got him to eat the forbidden fruit and imposed the full sentence on him, our Governments and the bureaucracies through whom they rule, have largely closed their eyes and ears to the devastation that the galamseyers have wrought on our water-bodies and food-producing farmlands. Plus the cocoa farms which our fathers left to us as a legacy from which we “pluck” the bulk of our foreign exchange.

Alarming as that is, our Governments have nevertheless allowed themselves to be influenced by the “snake oil” lies which the galamseyers have expertly fabricated to deceive both the Governments and the populace they rule.

“We are only poor, small-scale miners who are only trying to make a living. We only do galamsey because otherwise we would be unemployed!” the galamseyers claim. But they have enough money to buy hugely expensive excavators and bulldozers, don’t they?

They have enough money to establish well-kept dwellings in the bush with fuel stations and feeding facilities, as well as brothels, don’t they?

They are aware that the mercury, cyanide and arsenic they use to refine gold can poison human adults and deform foetuses before birth, not so?
