Jamaican Foreign Affairs Minister heaps praise on Okudzeto Ablakwa over leadership and diplomacy

Jamaica’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has praised Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for his leadership, dedication and commitment to international cooperation.

The two ministers met in Accra on May 26, 2026, to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss labor exchange arrangements.

The Jamaican minister described Mr. Ablakwa as a highly respected and results-oriented leader who is admired by his colleagues across the world.

According to her, the Ghanaian Foreign Affairs Minister has earned recognition on the global stage because of his commitment to excellence and his focus on ensuring that foreign affairs benefits ordinary people.

“He is excellent. He is knowledgeable. He is results-oriented. He is nation-minded and globally-minded,” she stated.

Johnson Smith added that Mr. Ablakwa strongly believes that diplomacy and foreign affairs should improve the lives of people at every level of society.

She said his commitment to partnership and effective leadership has helped strengthen cooperation between Ghana and Jamaica.

The Jamaican Foreign Affairs Minister also commended Mr. Ablakwa for his ability to work quickly and efficiently with his team to achieve results.

Referring to Jamaica’s sprinting legend, Usain Bolt, she expressed confidence that both countries would achieve their shared goals together.

“I want to believe that in getting your team to move at Usain Bolt speed, Minister, we are going to cross the finish line together,” she said.

Johnson Smith further called on participants applaud Mr. Ablakwa for what she described as his outstanding work and contribution to international relations.
