Kasapreko renovates boreholes for 2 c’nities in Awutu Senya Dist

Management of Awake Purified Drinking Water, produced by Kasapreko Company Limited, has supported two communities in the Awutu Senya District with boreholes and storage facility to improve the water situation in the communities.

The communities, Okwampa and Ayensuako, have been plagued with the challenge of accessing potable water for some time now, compelling residents to trek long distances to fetch water.

The people of Ayensuako, for instance, have been depending on water from the Ayensu River after the borehole in the town dried out, and they had been depending on River Ayensu, which serves as a base for their washing and for other purposes.

As part of the project, the company renovated the boreholes and also provided the town with a 10,000 litre water storage tank each to augment the water supply in the two communities.

The renovation of the boreholes formed part of activities lined-up by the company to mark the celebration of this year’s World Water Day, which was on the theme: “Leaving no one behind”.

Members of the two communities could not hide their joy with the provision of the facilities, and said that, it had come at the opportune time looking at the challenges they face in accessing potable water.

For some residents of Ayensuako, fetching water from the Ayensu River for house chores was a great health hazard, saying that the facility would save the many students and other members of the community who spent a lot of time in accessing water, and commended the company for the gesture.

The boreholes, according to management of Awake Purified Drinking Water, would be mechanised and connected to the storage tank to ensure constant supply.

The Sales and Marketing Manager, Awake Purified Drinking Water, Chris Sarkodie, in his remarks at separate ceremonies in the two communities, explained that the renovation of the boreholes and the storage tanks formed part of the company’s commitment in ensuring that many communities have access to potable water.

He indicated that, the company selected the two communities based on a documentary on television highlighting the plight of the people in their quest for potable water.

Mr Sarkodie noted that, as part of the company’s responsibility to Ghanaians, it would continue its support for the Cardiothoracic Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The District Chief Executive for Awutu Senya, Stephen Kwame Quaye, in his comment at both events, praised the management of Awake Purified Water for their support to the two communities, and said that the gesture would reduce the challenge of access to potable water in the district.

He urged the beneficiary communities to ensure that they develop a proper maintenance culture to ensure that the facility served its intended purpose.
