Unbeaten Greater Accra and Western Region teams have secured passage into the semi-final stage of the ongoing 2025 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship with victories in their final group games at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Greater Accra defeated the GFA Elite Academy (Bolga) 2-0 in their final group game to rise to the top of Group A with 14 points.

Defending champions, the Western Region, joined the group winners in the semis with a 4-3 penalty victory over Volta Region after a goalless draw.

The victory moved the “Western show boys” to 11 points, three points behind the leaders and three points ahead of Volta, securing their place in the semis.

Upper West Region, who lost 4-3 on penalties to Northern Region, remained in fourth position with six points, while Northern Region placed fifth with five points. Elite Academy (Bolga) finished last with no points.

Team Central Region

Central Region topped Group B with 12 points after a commanding 3–1 victory over Greater Accra Elite B in their final group game. Ashanti Region narrowly escaped into the semi-finals on goal difference after their solid 2–0 victory over Upper East saw them edge out Brong Ahafo to seal passage.

At the end of the group stage games, both teams were tied on 9 points apiece. However, Brong Ahafo’s 2–1 win over 2024 third-place finishers Eastern Region ensured they had a minus one goal difference, while Ashanti had a plus two goal difference.

Eastern Region placed fourth on six points, with Greater Accra Elite B and Upper East Region following with five and four points respectively.

The winners of tomorrow’s matches will advance to the championship final on Saturday, September 27, at the Teshie McDan Astro Turf.

The 2025 edition boasts an expanded 12-team lineup drawn from all ten Regional Football Associations alongside the GFA Elite Academies, delivering competitive depth and nationwide representation.

Over the past four years, the KGL U17 Inter-Regional Championship has consistently unearthed exceptional talent, with many alumni advancing to Ghana’s junior national teams, excelling in the domestic leagues, and also securing opportunities to further their development with clubs abroad.
