Korleman Stool urges landowners to regularise stay

The Korleman Stool in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has asked landowners in the Korleman community to regularise their documents and begin development on their lands or risk losing them.

Speaking at a press conference in Korleman, the Atofotse of the area, Nii Apiagyei I, said many lands in the community have been left undeveloped for years, slowing down growth. He explained that the new directive is to help change this situation and ensure landowners support the community’s progress.

The notice from the Stool says that landowners who bought plots but have not developed them must now present a clear plan for development and begin work without delay. Those who fail to do so within two months of the notice risk losing their land to the Stool.

Nii Apiagyei I also raised concerns about fraudulent land claims, especially with the use of the name “Nii Korley VII.” He said the Korleman family has never installed anyone with that title and does not recognise any documents signed under such a name. He urged residents to submit such papers to the Lands Secretariat for correction and proper records.

The Chief further cautioned people not to deal with land guards, impostors, or self-styled chiefs. He said anyone who pays money to such groups does so at their own risk since only transactions that pass through the Korleman Lands Secretariat are valid and secure.

He noted that the Lands Secretariat is open to assist landowners with corrections and regularisation of documents.

He added that the directive is supported by the Lands Act, 2020 (Act 1036), and forms part of efforts to speed up development in Korleman.

The Stool has therefore urged the public to respect the laws, avoid fraudulent land dealings, and work together to promote peace and unity for national development.
