Asante Kotoko defeated Dormaa Aduana Stars 2-0 in their Match day 12 Ghana Premier League fixture honoured at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park, yesterday.
A goal in each half from Patrick Asiedu on 10 minutes and Albert Amoah on 61 minutes secured the Porcupine Warriors their first win in their last five games.
The host, Aduana, were hoping to record their second successive victory at home for the first time this season against a Kotoko side that have suffered back-to-back defeats in their last two away games, while the Porcupine Warriors were looking to end that poor streak of results.
Rightly so, the visitors got off to a perfect start when defender Asiedu pounced on loose ball to deliver a shot past goalkeeper Massawudu Inusah in post for Aduana.
Kotoko held onto the lead into the break.
The start of the second half was delayed for 40 minutes after it was alleged that centre referee, Reginald Collins Amoah, had been attacked by a fan which left him injured and not in the right condition to continue with the game.
However, after receiving medical attention, he decided to go ahead with the game, and at 4:40 pm, he signaled both teams back into action.
Sixteen minutes after the restart, Amoah put the game beyond the reach of the Ogya Boys when he scored the second goal to cap an afternoon of resilient display.
The loss is the second at home in the hands of coach Prosper Narteh Ogum led Kotoko side and spells doom for coach Yaw Acheampong, who has comse under fire for poor the showing of his side Aduana Stars
