Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko would lighten the Accra Sports Stadium tomorrow when they lock horns in what is more than just a betPawa Ghana Premier League game.
Tomorrow’s game will serve two major purposes; first of which guarantees the winner the three maximum points by the competition’s arrangement.
The same match will double as a game to commemorate Ghana’s Independence anniversary celebration for which it has been dubbed the President Cup match.
With a trophy and cash reward of GH¢50,000 on the table for the winner and GH¢30,000 for the loser via penalty shootout, it promises to be fireworks for fans that throng the stadium.
This would be the third time the two clubs are meeting under such arrangement; the first being a 31st December Revolution Cup match which took place on Sunday, December 31, 1989.
That game ended 2-2 while Asante Kotoko run away 7-6 winners on penalties to grab the trophy.
They again went toe-to-toe in the Ghana Premier League match day 14 game on March 2, 1997, to mark Ghana@40 at the Accra Sports Stadium. It ended 1-1 with the Phobians running away with the trophy at stake on penalties.
